Salamander undertakes, manages and commissions research to both develop and demonstrate new technology.

Environmental Monitoring
To keep pace with global demands to predict and manage environmental change, academic research has identified the requirement for monitoring to broaden in reach and intensify in coverage.

Therefore, as point monitoring extends into networks, a niche develops into a mass market opportunity. To capture this incipient market, robust instrumentation must be produced and the commercial value of its deployment demonstrated.  To this end, Salamander research is currently focused on the further development and demonstration of:

  • Low cost low power sensors,
  • Low power wireless networking,
  • Pervasive computing to allow ad hoc networking and minimize data transmission.
